BuzzBack: A Paid Survey Site You Can Trust?

Today, we will review the popular paid survey site, BuzzBack. Being one of the up and coming paid survey sites as well as being part of the NYC’s top 100 best places to work list in both 2016 and 2017, we had to check it out.

In this review, we’ll focus on all the aspects that make a good paid survey site such as the reward scheme, the sign-up process, reliability of the platform, and existing member experiences. We understand that paid survey sites typically receive bad press due to the number of illegitimate websites around today.

So, by the end of this review, we’ll be able to make a clear decision on whether it is a legitimate way to earn some extra cash in your spare time or just another data collection scam.

BuzzBack: Company Overview

The company’s mission is to connect corporations and big-time brands with their potential consumers in order to aid in product and service development. The purpose of this is to deliver products and services that match consumer demand, lessening the guesswork and reducing the number of products or services that offer features that consumers simply aren’t interested in.

It utilizes an image-driven and interactive approach to integrate both qualitative and quantitative information into the consumer feedback. This innovation has led the company to win numerous awards in recent years such as the already mentioned top 100 best places to work for two years in a row and GRIT top 50 innovative companies in 2018.

Likewise, their president and CEO Carol Fitzgerald has been an IWEC 2017 awardee. Clearly displaying these achievements that they are rightfully proud of, helps give them a reputation of a paid survey company that can be trusted.

First Look at the Website

Users are met with a clean and organized landing page that offers a wealth of information. You’ll be able to find the answer to any question you may have with regards to the company, whether it be about concept development or in-home use testing. They even have a blog filled with relevant industry information.

Finding the signup link wasn’t the easiest task though as it’s different from other websites where you typically find it plastered all over the front page or at least in the navigation bar. BuzzBack decided to place this at the bottom of the page alongside their privacy and terms of use pages. While we like that these three pages are grouped together, it would provide a better user experience if members were able to find the signup link in a commonly accepted location.

The privacy and terms of use pages are very informative and answer many questions on how your data will and won’t be used once you sign up for their service. Again, this only adds to their trustworthiness.

How It Works

Like most popular paid survey sites, the company has simplified their signup process in order to entice more members to join as interested individuals only need to fill out some key information before they can get started.

  1. Fill out a basic questionnaire during registration in order to create your profile and gain access to survey invitations. This should only take a few minutes to complete.
  2. You’ll then receive an email with a few questions to help build your profile and match you with suitable surveys in order to provide the best results for you and the company asking the questions.
  3. Once qualified for a survey, you’ll enter an online survey session that’ll require you to answer questions truthfully, and in return for your time, the company will offer you redeemable rewards.

Your Privacy

With the recent introduction of GDPR, BuzzBack has taken extra steps to ensure the privacy of their member’s information. Along with not releasing information to third party companies, members are also able to access and correct any of the information that is being held by the company but most importantly, they can request for this information to be deleted at any point.

These new guidelines, as well as the website’s own security measures, allow members to provide information voluntarily without the worry of it being used for anything other than its original intention.

Opting against the traditional points system adopted by the vast majority of paid survey sites around today, the rewards for users are always displayed in cash value, so members know exactly how much each survey is willing to reward them for their efforts.

Rewards are redeemable via the following methods:

  • Cash paid via PayPal
  • Amazon gift cards
  • Retail e-vouchers
  • Sweepstakes entries
  • Donations to charity
  • Magazine subscriptions

The value per survey typically hovers around the $5 mark, but it can be higher or lower depending upon the company offering the survey. These surveys usually only take 15 to 20 minutes each to complete, and members must then accumulate a total of $15 before they are able to withdraw their rewards. After doing so, rewards take between three to four weeks for full payment to be released.

Other Users Experiences

The general user population is satisfied with the level of rewards and service they’ve so far received; however, there are also some common problems that members seem to be regularly encountering.

The Good

Firstly, the vast majority of members are happy with the level of the reward offered for their input as it’s not too low to be off-putting and not too high to give you the impression that you’re likely to be disqualified upon application. Unlike other paid survey sites there are also very little to no reports of delayed or refused payments.

The Bad

The negative experiences with the company is that survey quota is filled exceptionally quickly, and there is a general lack of opportunities to increase their reward balance. While this isn’t putting new members off at first, after a few months of limited success, it does let them find larger survey sites with more opportunities.

Verdict: Legit

Factoring in all the considerations above, there is 100% an opportunity to earn extra cash through BuzzBack but these opportunities can become somewhat limited when the number of surveys available begins to saturate and the few that are left fill extremely quickly. So, unless you’re regularly on the platform, then you might struggle to qualify for a survey.
